Marc Jacobs is doing a lot of cool stuff right now. First that jacket with the Jay-Z lyrics I featured last. Now we have four new skate decks featuring photos by Juergen Teller. Taking images from the Marc Jacobs Advertisement archives the decks feature photos of Lisa Marie (Marc Jacobs Spring 2000), Kate Moss (Marc Jacobs Fall 2000), Stephanie Seymour (Marc Jacobs Fall 2001) and M.I.A. (Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2009). These will be available in New York at Bookmarc (400 Bleecker Street) and Marc by Marc Jacobs Men’s (298 W. 4th Street) stores and in all Marc by Marc Jacobs stores nationwide now. The 7-ply Canadian maple decks are limited to 100 of each.
For the launch of his autobiography “Decoded”, Jay-Z turned the marketing for a book into interactive art and even a scavenger hunt that rewarded his most die-hard fans. As part of a scavenger hunt they hid all 320 pages of Decoded in plain sight in 13 cities: on a rooftop in New Orleans, a pool bottom in Miami, cheeseburger wrappers in New York City, and more. Fans who found them all got a chance at two tickets to any Jay-Z concert anywhere, for life! You can buy “Decoded” here.
Here’s the latest video from Theophilus London for “Flying Overseas”, featuring Solange Knowles and Dev Hynes. Can’t wait till he releases a proper album.
I saw Yelawolf at SXSW while waiting for Sleigh Bells and Bone Thugz to go on. He put on a great show and his album is about to drop on Tuesday. Needless to say, he’s going to be big.
With majority of the shows I watch having ended their seasons recently (Mad Men, Weeds, Bored To Death), I’m very excited for Californication to return in January.
With a title like How To Be a Man: A Guide To Style and Behavior For The Modern Gentleman How To Be a Man Book, Mr. O’Brien has my attention. Too bad this book won’t be available till April. You can preorder here.
