“To Live & Ride In L.A.” Trailer
Over a year in the making, To Live & Ride In L.A. is the first feature-length film about L.A.’s underground fixed-gear culture. Directed by David Rowe (Fast Friday), the documentary explores a side of Los Angeles few outsiders have ever seen.
To Live & Ride In L.A. features talented local riders tearing up the streets with first-time visitor Keo Curry (Fast Friday, Macaframa), one of the living legends of the sport. From races through rush-hour traffic to midnight loft parties, To Live & Ride In L.A. is a fast-paced trip through the busy streets and back-alleys of one of the world’s largest cities.
GZA’s Wu-Tang Clan Documentary
The GZA is releasing a documentary about the Wu-Tang Clan. Based on the trailer, to say there was tension in the group would be a serious understatement. This group helped change the face of rap music, and I can’t wait to see this. I’m really glad they did one final show as a full group the month before ODB died.
Words
A very cool film from Will Hoffman and Daniel Mercadante to accompany Radiolab’s Words episode. Original score by Keith Kenniff.
How Much Hipster Can You Pack In A Jazz?
I’ve been showing everyone these videos since the middle of last week, but I’ve just got around to blogging about them. Honda Jazz (an Australian car) came up with the most genius commercials. 3 of 4 of them are amazing (the rap one blows and I’m not linking it here). Obviously, the Hipster video has the most views, but the Massive and Ninja videos are great as well.
Nigel Sylvester And Gatorade Go All Day
When in LA this past weekend, I took Kim to The Standard Downtown for a Dub Frequency party because she had never been to a pool party at The Standard before. The X Games were in town and we ended up sitting with the special host of the party, BMX pro Nigel Sylvester. I had never heard of him before, but he and all his friends were super awesome, super fun people. Lots of mojitos, lots of tequila, lot of champagne, lots of good times.
“Welcome To Daytrotter” Trailer
Daytrotter is one of the best music blogs out there right now. While most music blogs all cover the same material, Daytrotter is unique in that they only post original material. Everything they post is a unique session by bands recorded just for Daytrotter, and there are some really great sessions. I also really loved their barnburned concert series. Without a doubt, this movie will be a must see for me.
