Entwurf-Direkt are a German furniture company that are creating completely unique storage units. I love these drawers, and if I had the money or time, I’d either buy them or build my own.

Red Bull is out to really prove that they’ll give you wings with their Red Bull Stratos project. On their website, they say “Red Bull Stratos, a mission to the edge of space, seeks to surpass limits that have existed for 50 years. Felix Baumgartner will undertake a stratospheric balloon flight to 120,000 feet and attempt a freefall jump targeted to reach – for the first time in history – supersonic speeds. Driven by Red Bull and a stellar team of scientists and specialists, the mission aims to deliver valuable lessons in human endurance and high-altitude technology.”

Reading a bit more into this, Felix is basically freefalling from space towards earth and is expected to break the sound barrier. This would make him the first person to ever do that without the help of any machine/vehicle/what-have-you. The whole mission is designed to help figure out a way to get astronauts back to earth if something happens to their shuttle so that we don’t have another Challenger. NASA aren’t willing to be attached to this project in case anything goes wrong, but Red Bull sure is, and I commend them for it.

This is supposedly all taking place in August.

Visionaire just released this tribute to the late, great Lee Alexander McQueen. It features contributions from Nick Knight, Lady Gaga, Steven Klein, Mario Sorrenti, Steven Meisel, Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, David Sims, Mario Testino, Sean Ellis, and Sebastian Faena. The collection of images is printed on paper embedded with wildflower seeds. When planted, watered, and given sun, the pages blossom. Definitely very unique. Limited to 1500 numbered copies. I love whiskey. I love barbecue. Now if only I had the $950 for this.

Anyone who knows me, knows I’m a whiskey drinker. Maker’s just announced Maker’s 46. Maker’s 46 apparently begins life as normal Maker’s, removed from the barrel when it’s fully matured. While it’s removed, 10 seared French oak staves are attached to the inside of the barrel, then the Maker’s goes back in to begin the months long process of becoming 46, a process which adds natural caramel, vanilla, and spice flavors without adding any bitterness. Only 25,000 cases will be shipped this year, and I plan on purchasing one or two very shortly.
